About Me

My photo
Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico
I am owned by Pauline and Mark Blasky. My hull was built at the Duncan Marine Yard in Taiwan and launched in Dec of 1980. It is a William Garden design based on the Pixie Design and called by Duncan Marine a Freedom 45. They are the fourth owners and have owned me the longest. They have done extensive refitting to me including replacing my entire deck structure and rig. My masts are roughly 10% taller than original and now are made of aluminium as opposed to the original wood ones, which, though pretty, were always problematic. Ko Tarutao (posted Dec 25, 2009)

Ko is island in the Thai language.  This is the island just north of Langkawi made most famous by the Survivor Series on TV in one of the earlier seasons.  It is a rather tall island as is Langkawi and as both islands are close, katabatic winds churn down off these hills.  So we were sailing a bit gently up the coast but had a great trip anchoring in the northwest bay in front of the ranger’s station (Ko Taratao is a national park).  We were going to go ashore but opted for a nice meal and a bottle of wine on deck with an early start planned for the morning.
