About Me

My photo
Alaska, United States
I am owned by Pauline and Mark Blasky. My hull was built at the Duncan Marine Yard in Taiwan and launched in Dec of 1980. It is a William Garden design based on the Pixie Design and called by Duncan Marine a Freedom 45. They are the fourth owners and have owned me the longest. They have done extensive refitting to me including replacing my entire deck structure and rig. My masts are roughly 10% taller than original and now are made of aluminium as opposed to the original wood ones, which, though pretty, were always problematic. Progress Report (Well Maybe a Bit of a Playday)

We have most of the boat cleaned.  Three of the sails are now bent on, only the main is to go.  The engine has been scrubbed, wire brushed and the first coat of rust remover applied (one to go then a paint touch up). The instruments, minus the radios and depth sounder have all been checked and are working.  Mark made two runs to the local Spenards and on the second time came back with a dehumidifier to keep the moisture in check.  It was while he was reading the manual on this that Father Tero came and said we needed a break.  He was willing to take us up to Exit Glacier.  For those who follow the blog, this is the glacier cousin Steve took us to back in October.  That day was rainy and kind of cold, plus Pauline had the wrong shoes on for a trip up to it.  But today we went up to the glacier's edge.  We saw moose poop and all kinds of neat things.

in 2010, the glacier was up to the sign

this is just to prove we were there
