About Me

My photo
Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico
I am owned by Pauline and Mark Blasky. My hull was built at the Duncan Marine Yard in Taiwan and launched in Dec of 1980. It is a William Garden design based on the Pixie Design and called by Duncan Marine a Freedom 45. They are the fourth owners and have owned me the longest. They have done extensive refitting to me including replacing my entire deck structure and rig. My masts are roughly 10% taller than original and now are made of aluminium as opposed to the original wood ones, which, though pretty, were always problematic. Well It Missed Us

For those of you who have been keeping your fingers crossed for us.  Typhoon Francisco has missed us.  It came close enough that they closed schools and most businesses but it gave us a wide berth and missed us by more than 100 miles.  It seems like the whole last two months we have been under threat but this was the closest.  At one point the forecasters had it stopping and intensifying right on top of us.  But it dipped south under us and track a little further west before turning back north again.  There was another one slotted to hit us but it looks like Francisco helped us here and the forecasts now show it heading north and dissipating. So maybe the bad weather is behind us for a while.  Poor Japan is getting hammered this year.  So hopefully next year when we are there they will get a reprieve.
