About Me

My photo
Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico
I am owned by Pauline and Mark Blasky. My hull was built at the Duncan Marine Yard in Taiwan and launched in Dec of 1980. It is a William Garden design based on the Pixie Design and called by Duncan Marine a Freedom 45. They are the fourth owners and have owned me the longest. They have done extensive refitting to me including replacing my entire deck structure and rig. My masts are roughly 10% taller than original and now are made of aluminium as opposed to the original wood ones, which, though pretty, were always problematic. ROAD TRIP!!!

If you have been following, you know we were waiting out for the typhoon to pass and then fly to Michigan.  What we kept quiet was we were getting picked up from the Grand Rapids airport by Mark's mom, nephew Greg and his partner Hayden, niece Tayler and packed into a van for a twelve hour road trip to North Carolina for a wedding.  Mark's sister Laura was getting married and there was a conspiracy by this group and the groom to surprise her with our arrival.  But it was a bit of an endurance test.  Luckily the wedding was casual with a Western theme (we came dressed in Western Pacific formal wear).

Anyway all went great, Laura was surprised.  We met and approve of the groom and his family so they have our blessing, as if that counts for anything!

Oh and then we turned around and drove back after the wedding.  That meant another 12 hours.  Whew!!!

Laura being given away by the van driver!
