About Me

My photo
Alaska, United States
I am owned by Pauline and Mark Blasky. My hull was built at the Duncan Marine Yard in Taiwan and launched in Dec of 1980. It is a William Garden design based on the Pixie Design and called by Duncan Marine a Freedom 45. They are the fourth owners and have owned me the longest. They have done extensive refitting to me including replacing my entire deck structure and rig. My masts are roughly 10% taller than original and now are made of aluminium as opposed to the original wood ones, which, though pretty, were always problematic. Battening Down

We are getting ready to leave the boat for three weeks and fly back to the USA.  Since we have arrived in typhoon prone areas we have tried to split our time off the boat in order that one of us is always ready to look after Sari Timur during a storm.  We were advised it is very early for typhoons here so we felt confident leaving together.  Well guesss what!!!  Typhoon Neoguri is out there and the long term predictions are a bit sketchy but it looks like we will have a pretty uncomfortable night before we leave.  But it shouldn't be a direct hit.  Okinawa is going to get hit directly, and Guam was missed but still had some impressive weather.  We have seen some footage of two hobie cats damaged in MYC though luckily it sounds like the damage was minimal, and another short video of waves breaking over the top of the naval housing in Orote Point.  For those not in the know that point is well over a hundred feet high.  But it is exposed in a way that the waves climb up the point.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that Sari Timur will be fine.
