About Me

My photo
Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico
I am owned by Pauline and Mark Blasky. My hull was built at the Duncan Marine Yard in Taiwan and launched in Dec of 1980. It is a William Garden design based on the Pixie Design and called by Duncan Marine a Freedom 45. They are the fourth owners and have owned me the longest. They have done extensive refitting to me including replacing my entire deck structure and rig. My masts are roughly 10% taller than original and now are made of aluminium as opposed to the original wood ones, which, though pretty, were always problematic. On the Hard

We are now up on the hard and the yard people have seen the way forward.  We did wipe out a solar panel in the process today.  It could have been worse.  The real work begins tomorrow.  Tonight we are staying on board to get rested before the chaos begins.

  1. Mark are they going to need to drill and vacuum out moisture from the hull or just fill and patch water bubbles?
Glad you both made it back safe and are enjoying your time together.

    1. I lost the reply. Blogspot is not easy. Anyway so far they have only hit three spots under pressure. We are hoping just opening them up grinding, drying and rebuilding is going to do it. No plans to have to vacuum so far. But right now the major task is getting bottom paint off and back to glass so we can see what we can see.
