We Finished the Dodger

 We finally finished the dodger.  With approximately one month to go before we take off for points further south.  There will still be some additions to tie the Bimini and dodger together but that will probably happen at a later date.  But for now we have visibility and some protection.  Yay Pauline for all her perseverance and hard work.

Rachel is gone

 The winds from Rachel turned out to not be too bad (less than 50 Kts). The rain however did cause some havoc.  Being from SE Asia and W Michigan we are used to large rainfalls.  Desert communities however have issues with rainfall.  Flooding is a real problem so are flat rooftops.  The marina office buildings roof collapsed.  Apparently a drain got blocked and too much water collected on the roof.  Sunday morning we walked to church as usual but had to deviate around a whole block that was flooded.  Afterwards we decided to walk to Gringo Gulch for breakfast.  On the way we had to cross second street.  It was closed and was a river.  That is only one block from the famous Gringo Gulch.  On the Gulch there were several people clearing up messes and unblocking those drains so more roof’s weren’t lost.  Several communities are without power.  We were lucky in the marina we had glitchy power but never lost it and by morning it was steady enough to flip back on the battery charger.  All in all a non event for us.

 Latest forecast says Rachel is going to make landfall here in Ensenada as a Cat one hurricane

Pauline Finished the Chaps

 Pauline finished making the new dinghy chaps for our 17 year old dinghy.  She made it with Stamoid material using her Sailrite machine.
